They typically observe New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday), and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on the weekend, they follow the standard federal observation schedule.
Best time to serve: Early morning, between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, is the ideal window. The office is freshly open, staff are available, and there is rarely any wait. Mid-morning to noon is also reliable but can occasionally be busier. Arriving after 1:00 PM is risky — not because they will refuse you, but because any unexpected delays (traffic, wrong documents, a line at reception) could push you past the 2:00 PM cutoff.
