If you work in litigation, process serving, or corporate legal services in the Sacramento area, you know Gateway Oaks Drive. This unassuming suburban office park, located just north of Interstate 80 off the Northgate Boulevard exit, has become Sacramento’s primary registered agent corridor — home to two of the most-served registered agent offices in the region, sitting approximately 100 yards apart.
Why Gateway Oaks Became the Hub
Gateway Oaks wasn’t always a registered agent corridor. It started as a general-purpose suburban office park in north Sacramento, offering affordable office space for professional services companies, small businesses, and corporate branches. Over decades, two major registered agents established their presence there:
Paracorp Incorporated (d/b/a Parasec) was founded in Sacramento in 1977 and has been at 2804 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 100 essentially since the beginning. This is their corporate headquarters, not a branch office.
CSC Lawyers Incorporating Service (the trade name of Corporation Service Company) established its Sacramento office at 2710 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 150N. While CSC is headquartered in Delaware, their Sacramento office is the primary California service of process location for the hundreds of thousands of California entities they represent.
The proximity is remarkable — the two buildings are in the same office complex, approximately 100 yards apart. You can park in the lot for one and walk to the other in about two minutes.
Gateway Oaks vs Downtown Registered Agents
Sacramento’s other major registered agents are scattered in the downtown core:
• CT Corporation is at 555 Capitol Mall, Suite 1150 (downtown, 11th floor of an office tower)
• Cogency Global is at 1325 J Street, Suite 1550 (downtown, 15th floor)
• Sundoc Filings / Corporate Creations is at 7801 Folsom Boulevard (eastern Sacramento, suburban)
The downtown registered agents offer a different experience: taller buildings, tighter parking (paid garages or street meters), building security check-ins, and longer elevator rides. They are closer to the Sacramento County Superior Courthouse (advantage for same-day court filing), but the trade-off is the navigation friction.
Gateway Oaks offers the opposite: free parking directly outside the buildings, ground-floor or low-floor offices, no security desks, and the ability to serve two registered agents on foot between them. It’s less convenient to the courthouse but more efficient for the service-of-process step itself.
The Critical Timing Note
There’s one important catch at Gateway Oaks: CSC closes for service of process at 2:00 PM. This is the earliest closing time of any Sacramento registered agent, and it is three hours earlier than Paracorp (which closes at 5:00 PM). Many process servers have made the mistake of arriving at CSC in the afternoon expecting a 5:00 PM closing time, only to find the office closed for service.
If you’re planning a dual-visit (serving both Paracorp and CSC in one trip), the only workable sequence is:
Morning: Serve CSC first. Arrive before 2:00 PM.
After CSC: Walk to Paracorp. Serve anytime before 5:00 PM.
Attempting the reverse order (Paracorp first, then CSC) carries the risk of missing the CSC cutoff if anything delays you at Paracorp.
Why This Matters
For attorneys, paralegals, and process servers who need to serve multiple corporate defendants, Gateway Oaks offers a unique geographic efficiency. If one of your cases involves a defendant who uses CSC and another who uses Paracorp, you can hit both in a single visit. If you’re doing bulk service work for a law firm with multiple corporate clients, Gateway Oaks routes are fast and reliable.
For companies choosing a registered agent, Gateway Oaks is a consideration too. Both Paracorp and CSC offer the same legal service (acting as the designated agent for service of process), but the physical location advantages of Gateway Oaks — easy access, free parking, low-friction building access — can matter for clients who occasionally need to visit their registered agent in person.
The Broader Sacramento Registered Agent Map
Gateway Oaks is one of several registered agent clusters in Sacramento, but it is the most geographically tight. Together with downtown (CT Corporation and Cogency Global) and eastern Sacramento (Sundoc Filings at 7801 Folsom), the Sacramento area offers process servers a relatively compact set of locations to navigate.
